SONP-UK Activities Report (2024–2026)

1. Introduction

This section provides a structured overview of key activities, engagements, and initiatives undertaken by SONP-UK between May 2024 and January 2026. It highlights organizational development, community engagement, policy discussions, partnerships, and outreach efforts.


2. Organisational Milestone

19 May 2024
Formation of the 10th Executive Committee (2024–2026), marking the beginning of a new leadership term focused on strengthening diaspora engagement and institutional collaboration.

2024

  • 10 July 2024
    Motivational Workshop
    Organised with Shristi KC and Hari Budha Magar, focusing on inspiration, resilience, and community empowerment.
  • 17 August 2024
    Citizenship Seminar Discussion
    Topic: Gair Aavashiya Nepali Nagarita (Non-Resident Nepali Citizenship) — fostering dialogue on legal and policy issues affecting the diaspora.
  • 29 August 2024
    Fundraising Event
    Organised in support of the Mayoral Charity Fund, Royal Greenwich Council.
  • 03 December 2024
    Collaboration Meeting
    Strategic discussion between SONP-UK and the Policy Research Institute (PRI) to explore research and policy collaboration.


2025

  • 12 January 2025
    Interaction with Dr Shekhar Koirala
    Discussion on diaspora engagement and Nepalese citizenship issues at Gorkha Capricon.
  • 08 March 2025
    Introductory Meeting
    Engagement with HE Chandra Kumar Ghimire at the Nepal Embassy, London, strengthening diplomatic ties.
  • 13 April 2025
    Blood Donation Program
    Jointly organized with NHS and CATUK (Chitwan Aid Trust), promoting community health and social responsibility.
  • 27 April 2025
    Interaction with Dr Swarnim Wagle
    Dialogue on diaspora issues, including dual citizenship for Non-Resident Nepalis.
  • 05 July 2025
    AGM, BBQ & Family Get-together
    Held at Rose & Crown, Welling, combining formal governance with community bonding.


2026

  • 03 January 2026
    Felicitation
    SONP-UK recognised by Britishkhabar.com as one of the Top 5 Most Active Organizations in the UK.


4. Networking and Institutional Engagement

SONP-UK has actively collaborated and engaged with a wide range of institutions and organisations, including:

Additionally, discussions were held regarding inclusive electoral participation (2082) through i-voting systems to incorporate overseas Nepali citizens.

6. Advocacy and Public Statements

09 September 2025

  • Press Release Issued
    SONP-UK formally expressed condemnation and extended condolences regarding the deaths of Nepalese individuals associated with the Gen-Z movement.


7. Conclusion

The period from 2024 to 2026 reflects a dynamic phase for SONP-UK, characterised by active community engagement, meaningful policy dialogue, strategic partnerships, and growing recognition. The organisation continues to play a vital role in representing and connecting the Nepali diaspora in the UK while contributing to discussions of national importance.
